SMART Business Objectives

This is ‘How To Business Strategy’ covers the art of defining your business objectives.  I’m not so keen on the term SMART Objectives only because it is so over used that I don’t think it helps that much.  This template below is more definitive.  Have a look then have a go …

1. Recognise the importance of the Business Vision, the Mission and the Business Values to business objectives

2. Identify the 3-5 critical success factors for your business and the key performance indicators in relation to those

3. Use the following template to create strategic objectives and specific objectives for projects or teams.

a. Start with an action verb

b. Describe the activity

c. Identify the current position – where you are now

d. Specify where you would like to be – your intended position

e. Give yourself a deadline
