Word of Mouth marketing and referrals are considered to be the most cost effective approach to building a business and therefore networking is a must for building your business. Having identified the people you’d like to be connected with through your Business Networking Strategy, LinkedIn could well be the perfect tool to help you get great results. In this video we explore what makes an engaging profile and how you might focus your activity to give you the best return on the time you invest in networking.
Watch the video for background information about Getting LinkedIn, feel free to request the templates firstname.lastname@example.org. I am happy to share.
1. Review your personal profile. Ensure you use the key search words for your specialism in your titles, your descriptions, your skills (and endorsements) and your career history. These items maximise the search algorithms
(Don’t forget to maximise your company page too)
2. Build your relationships. Use the Notification Tab to help you keep in contact. Respond with short but personal notifications (as you would if you bumped into these people in the pub/street/ supermarket queue)
3. Research those companies that you would like to do business with, who do you know that know the key people in the business? Pick up the phone and have a conversation with your contact. See where it leads …
Please do share your experiences with these models in the comments below. I am building a portfolio of small business case studies and would love to include examples of what has worked well for you.
