Shift – (Six Sentence Story #169)
We’re going for the shift
A change in our thoughts,
To stop future worry: what has been and what’s gone.
We need to act upon,
A movement in state.
-o0o-
We may need a sharp jolt
A slap in the face,
To ensure we notice where we are right now.
Neither tense needs no bow,
Today’s all that’s real.
-o0o-
Thoughts last just a moment
Be they fear or joy,
Let us seek peace in between each reflection.
Discard disaffection,
And sigh with relief.

It’s not easy to “notice where we are right now”, but good when we accurately see it.

“Today is all that’s real.” – Excellent message, Laura! I’m going to hang on to that thought.

I really love this, Laura. Beautifully crafted. Peaceful and strong.
You complete a hat trick of sorts along with Crystal Grimes’s 6 at Mystical Strings and Lisa T.’s over ‘ta Prolific Pulse.
True, today is our only day.

Going through a shift in consciousness is a great way to travel to find yourself. This is a beautiful poem, Laura. It should be framed and hanging on the wall to reflect on each day! ❤

Well done. Attending to the present often starts with a slap.
And then we move on, in a different direction…

Thanks Frank, most of us can’t because there is so much ‘noise’ everywhere 😉

We often need that slap in the face (hopefully it’s metaphorical!) to return us to reality. Nice 6!
