Covey’s Creative Cooperation
As Stephen Covey simply puts it, synergy means “two heads are better than one.” When people begin to interact together genuinely, and they’re open to each other’s influence, they begin to gain new insight. The capability of inventing new approaches is increased exponentially because of differences. In this video we look at business culture in three parts. Before we have a look at Stephen Covey’s model of trust & cooperation, we first review Charles Handy’s Trust Control dilemma and finally we consider Lynda Gratton’s Six Tips for building a cooperative culture.
Watch the video to get the background information to Handy’s and Covey’s models and then Gratton’s checklist, feel free to request the templates laura@thehiddenedge.co.uk. I am happy to share.
1. First consider where your business management culture is on Handy’s Trust/Control Dilemma. Remember that Y is constant therefore the more control the less trust and vice versa.
2. Now consider the impact of the management culture in different areas of your business
3. Use Lynda Gratton’s checklist to consider how you can embrace and develop a collaborative mindset within your business
Please do share your experiences with these models in the comments below. I am building a portfolio of small business case studies and would love to include examples of what has worked well for you.
