Yesterday, I was wondering if we would actually set off in Fran the Van, for the Emerald Isle, today. I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow, let alone find a weekly smile! For four days, I had been swiped out by a massive bout of hay fever. I did check to make sure it wasn’t Covid. Thankfully I tested negative; as that truly would have been the last straw. 🤧

Luckily, we had packed Franny, with all but the food provisions, the previous weekend. Last night, Boyfriend lifted the emergency breakdown kit from the car, stashing it with all the other contingencies in one of the compartments. Whilst I dosed myself with every concoction of antihistamine you can think of, including a sleeping pill and then crawled back to bed. 😭

It seems the medicinal services have worked their magic and this morning we set off for our first overnight stop in Solihull. Most of our detailed agenda for the next fortnight includes myriad historical site seeing, but not today. Today, we enjoy the ride, let the real life tensions drift away and relax into the first proper touring holiday with Franny. 😊
