Weekly Smile – (3TC #713)
It’s not been a good year for produce from the garden. I guess; Spring came too early, too much rain this Summer, definitely not enough bees? I’m no expert in plant organ biology but something this year was not quite right and … boyfriend is tripping over his bottom lip. 🤨
The blueberry crop was slightly better, the mug of raspberries pitiful; there are more red onions waving wildly and a tad more strawberries but nothing to write home about. The runner beans are non-existent although the black french have been a new addition and a pitiful success. But the easy peasy to grow mange tout appalling. Pas du tout! 😫
Potatoes were slightly better this year but the most of the tomatoes have blight. Too be fair though, if I compare the photograph of the garden this year, to that of last. It’s not looking that bad, and … we have spent a few quid on Sunday buying some autumn planters. Who knows – maybe we’ll still have a bumper crop? 😆

Our home produce was hit and miss too Laura. Onions good, tomatoes good and still coming, cabbages good, cauliflowers good, swede OK, parsnips and carrots rubbish!

We work with a local farm, but this has been an odd year for them as well, even on this side of the pond. And she (our farmer) does seem to have an over abundance of red onions…

Ah ha! Glad it’s not just us but red onion soup this Autumn may become a bit tedious! 🤣

You plant a big variety of stuff! We only planted tomatoes, which did quite well. I’m now going up and down the street trying to give them all away.
