Weekly Smile – (3TC #447)
Awe! I got to have a get together with my Mum this week. The last time I saw her in real life was 20th September. She’ll be 90 next month, despite all the restrictions, and being extremely hard of hearing, she has been remarkably resilient. I do believe that, Willow, her hearing dog has been marvellous company.
Mum bubbles with my sister who lives a bit closer, and whilst my visit is technically naughty (both of us live in tier 2 areas) boyfriend and I had a Covid test, just to be on the safe-side. Besides, she’ll be with my sister for Christmas, and moreover, Mum needed a ‘No1’ daughter hug – if I’m honest so did I!
I gave Mum a hair cut, boyfriend made beef bourguignon, and whilst he sorted the sundry jobs, I balanced her bank accounts.
A few days previously, she had got the home help to decorate the house and dig out Dad’s ‘special Christmas tree’ which has several trains that run around the tree in tiers. Have I ever mentioned … how fond Dad was of steam, his model railway and Christmas?

It now has a special place in my home! Huge smile! Sadly there is a couple of cracked antlers but hey – would you be able to tell? No, me neither! Love you Mum!
PS – Mum also has a similar tree just without the trains! 😇

I’d love to play along every day but life gets in the way … I was hoping to put a video up of it actually working – but YouTube isn’t playing at the mo! 😅

Thank you Dawn – it was lovely. Especially now that she is in tier 4 and therefore housebound. If I’m honest, she doesn’t sound too fazed tho!
