Weekly Smile – (3TC #426)
Our Christmas Cactus that sits in the middle of the bay window sill, in the lounge had bloomed with a wonderful cerise cascade of flowers. It was truly a centre piece.
Sadly, last weekend I noticed the intricate maze of waxy leaves were covered with a disgustingly sticky swarm of mealybugs. Ugh! So unjust!

However, the poor plant suffered more indignity with the spraying, the removal of its ‘crown of glory’ and the painstaking wipe of every leaf with a wet cloth. It took us hours. But it is now clean, tidy and back in its rightful home.
Guess what? Three new flowers came out this weekend, so we haven’t killed it and … you never know, we may get a few more blooms in time for Christmas after all. Big smile!

We had one of these and it flowered at Christmas and Easter, though the flowers were red, not purple. I gave cuttings to members f my family and they all thried.

Red – how lovely. This one is Dave’s – it came with him when he moved in 2 years ago … it was in a sorry state then. It seems to like this position. 😊

I had mine on the sideboard and it seemed to like it there.
