Frankie, the grammarian at tonight’s Toastmasters meeting, smiled resolutely. He was adamant that he would get just the right choice, for the ‘Word of the Evening’ challenge. He had taken his time, doggedly thumbing through his Thesaurus, discarding relentlessly all those that were not quite right. Then he spotted obdurate. That was it! Not an easy one to embed into prepared and impromptu speeches but hey, he was feeling stubborn tonight.
