Lasswell’s Comms Model
This post explores Lasswell’s model of communication and overlays some research commissioned by Barclays which gives some context to consider when analysing your communication strategies. Harold Lasswell’s communication model has 5 components which is used as an analysis tool for evaluating the communication process and components. It’s a simple model that has survived the test of time. It is designed for broadcasting so there is lack of direct feedback.
Watch the video for background information about Lasswell’s Communication Model, feel free to request the templates laura@thehiddenedge.co.uk. I am happy to share.
1. Determine the methods of communication you currently use to broadcast your company messages.
2. Assess the current effectiveness on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being fab!
3. Recognise the characteristics of the generations in your internal and external customer base
4. Overlay Lasswell’s five components to help you create a strategy to support effective communication throughout your business.
Please do share your experiences with these models in the comments below. I am building a portfolio of small business case studies and would love to include examples of what has worked well for you.

Can I publish your picture of Laswell’s communication model in my bachelor assignment about communication? I think it is a good model since you have included aspects as noise, feedback, purpose and circumstances- which fits my assignment about analysing the communication before sending it.
